Learn Something New in Town Square

With the start of a new school year, parents are sure to have a mix of emotions as they send their children off for another semester of learning, extracurricular activities, and more. It can be hard knowing that the fun days of spending time with family and friends in the sun will soon be replaced with busy schedules and hints of fall, but it's also important to remember that when you live in Asheville, fun is never hard to find.

Biltmore Park Town Square is one of the best places in the region to find entertainment and opportunities to visit with loved ones, and for parents who are sad to see their children back in school, it's also a great place to join in on the fun and learn something, too.

Start your own fall curriculum at REI Asheville, where you'll find a number of free classes, activities, and presentations that promise to educate and entertain. From learning about birding and wildlife photography to hearing insight on how to choose the best gear for your next backpacking trip, REI is sure to help you broaden your skill set and knowledge base regarding everything outdoor adventure.

Echo Gallery at Biltmore Park
is also a good option if you're interested in learning something new. As a co-op, artists are always on hand to tell you more about their craft and the process behind the pieces you'll find in the store. You may even be inspired to try your own hand at painting or pottery, or perhaps you'll find the perfect piece of art for your home.

If something more active is what you are seeking, classes and membership to the Y is the best place to begin. The state-of-the-art facility is the perfect place to stay in tune with your wellness goals as the temperatures in autumn begin to drop, and there are experts on hand to teach you about nutrition, exercise, and more.

Whatever your choice may be, we hope to see you soon in Biltmore Park Town Square for some fun, entertainment, relaxation, and even learning.

Find Back to School Supplies in Biltmore Park

As many morning commuters may have noticed this week, yellow school buses are once again part of our daily journey to work. Even if the summer may feel as though it just began, one fact is clear: it's officially back to school time. Fortunately, with its many different offerings, Biltmore Park enjoys the unique opportunity to be a destination for those seeking both summertime entertainment as well as supplies for a new academic semester.

For young, first-time students, Bon Bébé should be the initial stop. Fashionable clothing, accessories, and more will help your child feel confident and comfortable on their first day of class. Dino-kinetics is also a wonderful destination for those seeking an entertaining and educational experience during which they can enjoy making John Payne's interactive dinosaur sculptures move while they learn about the prehistoric animals' habitats and habits.

For older students, the University of Phoenix® offers excellent classes and schedules for those interested in pursuing their academic careers in a flexible environment. Barnes & Noble is well-stocked with educations and leisurely books as well as school supplies. Don't forget to stop by REI, too, where you'll find sports equipment, and the Wednesday farmers' market has plenty of healthy options for school lunches.

But don't forget to add in a little fun to the days of homework, sports practice, and extracurricular activities. Biltmore Park Town Square has plenty to offer in that department, too, with a movie theater, art gallery, free Saturday evening concerts, and more. Stop in soon to enjoy your final days of summer, and find everything you need for school in one, convenient location.

wind-sculpturesIf you have visited Biltmore Park Town Square recently you have probably noticed some unique additions along Town Square Boulevard.  Grovewood Gallery recently installed seven large spinning wind sculptures near Cecil Park and two large whimsical butterfly benches near Barnes & Noble.

Grovewood Gallery and Biltmore Park chose three veteran artists to place their work in Town Square, Lyman Whitaker and Francis and Cindy Vega.  Lyman Whitaker, a sculptor for over 40 years, is a Utah artist whose wind sculptures are created from copper and steel.  These materials provide a high degree of mechanical integrity and are well respected as quality craftsmanship.  The kinetic sculptures move with the shifting wind and are reasonably priced between $800 for the smallest, up to $2800 for the largest.  The other two artists, Francis and Cindy Vega, of Durham NC, produce metal benches out of steel; the two benches featured in Biltmore Park are their popular Butterfly Bench.  These whimsical benches sell between $2800 for the medium sized, up to $3600 for the largest.  Contact Grovewood Gallery for purchase inquires at sales@grovewood.com or 877.622.7238.
