Tree Lighting & Holiday Market 

Friday, November 20 | 4 – 8 PM | Town Square Boulevard  

3…2…1! We’re counting down the days to the start of the holiday season at Biltmore Park Town Square! First on the list is a magical tree-lighting celebration and our first market of the season! Discover locally crafted gifts for everyone on your nice list at Asheville’s favorite holiday market. Then, join us for a South Asheville holiday tradition at our tree lighting celebration. Who knows, there may even be snow!️ 

Holiday Market, 4 – 8 PM: Searching for a thoughtful, locally crafted gift? Find presents and treats from over 35 local artisans and makers from across the Western North Carolina community.  

We are excited to announce the lineup of local vendors for our Tree Lighting Holiday Market! We’re putting the finishing trimmings on our tree, so check back frequently as we add to the list. We encourage you to check out the holiday markets at both our Tree Lighting and Santa in the Square event, as some vendors are unique to each event.

Live Christmas Music 

4-5:30 PM: Hear the sounds of the season performed by local school choirs and bands! Taking place in front of the Christmas Tree, right at the center of Town Square. 

4-6 PM: Enjoy roaming musical entertainment from the Dickens Carolers.

Roaming Entertainment 

4:30-6:30 PM: To add even more to our list of fun holiday activities, enjoy performances around the holiday market from the Asheville Aerial Artists with festive stilt walkers, and get a free holiday balloon masterpiece from our balloon artist!  

Tree Lighting Ceremony 

Tree Lighting, 6:30 PM: Time for the main event! Gather around the tree at Biltmore Park Town Square for one of Asheville’s favorite holiday traditions, the Tree Lighting ceremony. This year, we’re adding something extra special! Santa will be leading the countdown to light our holiday tree. When the lights twinkle on, be sure to bundle up—the evening air may get a little frosty!   

Come early to shop the holiday market, grab dinner or hot chocolate, listen to your favorite seasonal tunes, and enjoy the cheerful atmosphere throughout Biltmore Park Town Square. It’s one of the can’t-miss holiday activities in Asheville for families and friends looking to celebrate the season together. 

Santa in the Square and Holiday Market 

Saturday, December 5 | 3 – 7 PM | Town Square Boulevard  

Santa’s coming to Biltmore Park Town Square, and he’s ready to celebrate! Join us for Santa in the Square and our second Holiday Market of the season. Be sure to check out the Holiday Markets at both the Tree Lighting and Santa in the Square, as some vendors are unique to each market.  

Santa in the Square, 3 – 6 PM, Town Square Green (across from the YMCA): Snap a photo with Santa and let him know what you’d like to see under the tree on Christmas morning. Our professional photographer will be on hand to capture the moment, and guests will receive a complimentary digital photo in their inbox the following week! Families are also welcome to take their own photos with Santa during their visit.  

Holiday Entertainment at Santa’s Tent in Town Square Green 

Thanks to these generous Biltmore Park businesses, all entertainment and treats in Santa’s tent are completely free.  

Kids crafts and activities, 3-6 PM:  

• Story Time and festive craft with Barnes & Noble  

• Enjoy a delicious holiday treat from Sweet Escape 

• Create your own holiday ornament with Zaniac

• Sip on hot cocoa from Mosaic Cafe

• Write your letter to Santa and put it in the North Pole Mail 

• Have your face painted and spread holiday cheer! 

Lollipop Aerial Performances, 3:30-6 PM: Enjoy a dazzling performance from Asheville Aerial Artists while you wait in line to see Santa! The performance takes place right outside of Santa’s tent.  

Holiday Market, 3 – 7 PM: Browse crafts, art, and treats from over 35 local vendors at our second holiday market! Support small businesses and find a gift for everyone on your list.

Roaming Entertainment 

3-6 PM: Enjoy the sounds of the season with roaming musical entertainment from the Dickens Carolers. 

4-6 PM: Be on the lookout for major holiday cheer, with festive stilt walkers from Asheville Aerial Artists and a roving photo booth to capture the magic! 

Winter Lights Trolley 

Fridays & Saturdays, Nov 27 – Dec 26 | 5:30 – 8 PM | Biltmore Park Town Square 

All aboard for a magical winter evening! Take a VIP trolley ride from Biltmore Park Town Square to Winter Lights at the North Carolina Arboretum. There, you’ll experience the Arboretum’s gardens aglow with over a million glimmering lights. See Arboretum holiday classics like the 50-foot animated Tree of Light and illuminated Quilt Garden, along with live music, hot cocoa, s’mores, and more festive favorites.  

The Winter Lights Trolley departs from Biltmore Park Town Square on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the holiday season, with pickups taking place every 30 minutes from 5:30–8:00 PM.

Tickets are $50 per person plus tax, and include round-trip trolley transportation, admission to Winter Lights, and an exclusive gift bag with complimentary cocoa vouchers and more.
