This summer, Biltmore Park Town Square’s Concerts in the Park, a three-part series, brought music, community, and magic to Cecil Park.
Each free outdoor show, set against the warm evening glow in front of Hickory Tavern, invited families and friends to bring lawn chairs, spread picnic blankets, and enjoy a night of great tunes and local flavor.
The season opened in June with Mission Accomplished, a talented group of Mission Health professionals who sometimes trade stethoscopes for guitars, drums, and microphones. Their setlist brimmed with classic rock and blues from the ’60s through the ’80s, sparking singalongs and dance moves across the lawn.
July kept the momentum going with Laron Huntley & The Gravely Brothers, a multi-generational Asheville band steeped in Americana and Southern rock. Their heartfelt originals and toe-tapping covers radiated warmth and fun, creating an energizing summer vibe.
The grand finale in August featured Soul Blue, a polished quintet blending soul, blues, and R&B. With members hailing from Asheville and Atlanta, their smooth grooves and emotional depth brought the series to a memorable close, sending the audience home swaying and smiling.
Along the way, Biltmore Park Town Square favorites such as Luella’s Bar-B-Que, Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, and The Sweet Escape kept the crowd fueled with delicious bites and sweets. Children danced on the lawn with hula hoops and played games, bubbles drifted through the air, and neighbors caught up while making new memories. Apartment balconies even turned into makeshift box seats overlooking the crowd.
Concerts in the Park became a highlight of the summer, as each was a focal point for the community to gather and echoed lively rhythm across the park long after the last note. If you missed it this year, keep an eye out for next season’s lineup—it’s a Biltmore Park tradition worth marking on your calendar.
