The first Concert in the Park couldn’t have started better with delicious food, an incredible band, and most importantly, a fantastic crowd. On July 12th, Biltmore Park’s very own Mission Accomplished graced the stage with rock and blues covers for all ages. The five-piece band, made up entirely of Mission Hospital employees, drew an enthusiastic crowd to Cecil Park, right in front of Hickory Tavern. Families, friends, and neighbors spread blankets, sat out chairs, and settled in for the lively set. The band, fronted by Jaimee Thomas and Rob Lane, performed favorite hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The music, tightly and joyfully executed, kept everyone dancing, swaying, and smiling.
The show wasn’t just a great way to spend a Friday evening but also supported a worthy and vital local cause. Mission Accomplished donated their earnings to Habitat for Humanity, presenting a check to representatives from the organization. The generous display inspired the Biltmore Park community to follow suit with Habitat receiving donations from audience members.
Throughout the evening, folks could pick up a bite to eat from our food sponsor, Luella’s Bar-B-Que South Asheville, whose smoker filled the air with the sweet salty smells of summer BBQ. Cleverly doled out in pint glasses, the savory stacks of baked beans, BBQ, mac n’ cheese, and coleslaw made for flavorful spoon-fulls while grooving to the music.
With sunshine, comfort food, and a fantastic performance by Mission Accomplished, July’s Concert in the Park was a rocking success. We are so thankful to Mission Accomplished, Habitat for Humanity, Luella’s BBQ, and everyone who came out to enjoy the show. Check out the Concert in the Park page for the full schedule!
